Recently Reed,my son, asked "What happens to you when you die." I replied "Your soul goes to heaven." Still not satisfied Reed said "But what happens to your bones?" Not wanting to lie I said "Well, they stay in the ground." My son abruptly erupted in tears, and I thought I scared him for life until he said "But what will happen to my toys?"

My three-year-old son wanted to know what happens when you die. So I told him people believe you go to heaven. "What's heaven?" he asked. I replied "It's a place your soul goes to...like the place your soul lived before you were born." He lit up like he really got the concept, and I took pride in explaining such a difficult concept that was until he said "OK, so when you die you go to the hospital."

While riding in the car, my son asked "Mom, what happened to that dog on the side of the road?" Turning to see a dead dog lying there, I thought quickly. This involved death and mortality ~ I wanted to choose my words carefully. "Well, son, that dog went home to be with Jesus." To which my son replied, "Momma, what does Jesus want with a dead dog?"

When my cat passed away, I sat in my living room and cried. Yousef, my nephew, grew concerned and asked me what was wrong, so I told him. Patting me on the shoulder he replied "Auntie, don't worry, we can call ghostbusters...they'll bring the kitty back."

On the news, they were talking about a hurricane passing through Florida. My son heard this and gasped, "I sure hope God is okay." Shocked I asked "What does God have to do with this?"� He responded "Well God lives in Florida." So I asked "What makes you think that?" My son smiled and replied "Don't you know Mommy that all old people live in Florida? They expire there." (Retire)

My son, husband, and myself were driving to dinner one evening when I looked back at our son and then commented to my husband (as any prejudiced mother would ) "He's going to be a lady killer someday." After about five minutes of silence, my young son suddently spoke up rather sternly and said "I'm not gonna kill ladies when I grow up."
